Juarez was built in 1961 and dedicated in 1962. The school's appearance is pleasing and well-groomed. Students feel proud of their school and contribute to its cleanliness. Recent landscaping and ADA upgrades make our site beautiful as well as accessible to our entire community. The auditorium boasts brand new curtains and a recently refinished stage area. New blackout curtains will be installed soon on the main windows. The entire school enjoys the central air conditioning that was installed in 2017. The school has just been repainted in beautiful natural tones. A joint-use agreement with the City of San Diego provides the greater community access to our turfed athletic field.
Providing safe and well-maintained schools is a top priority for the school district. The campus is secured once school begins and perimeter gates are locked, and then reopened at dismissal for public access. All instructional areas are equipped with emergency walkie talkies, and a new upgraded phone system was installed this past year. A new partnership with Children's Hospital and the County of San Diego is providing street safety practices and supports through the Safe Routes to School program. Full maintenance staff keep our school clean and beautifully maintained. The school enjoyed recent upgrades to our restrooms and drinking fountains. Visitors to the school are greeted by a student maintained vegetable and flower garden.
Teachers have access to a centralized workroom, reading resource room, a multi-purpose media center, and a Motor Lab. A dedicated Parent Room is located on campus where parents can gather to volunteer, work on school projects, and socialize. Complete with toys, books, and a computer hub, the Parent Room is a popular spot for moms, dads, and toddlers to gather.
All classrooms are equipped with Promethean/interactive technology and students in grades TK-5 have access to individual netbooks or iPads.
Technology improvements are constant as the equipment is regularly updated and replaced with newer, cutting edge items.
The school's location is convenient and located close to the Interstate 15, near the San Diego Trolley line, SDCCU Stadium, Mission Valley, as well as the Kearny Mesa business park, making it a popular school of choice for nonresidents.
